Years Lived in KC
Nearly two-thirds of respondents say they have lived in the region more than 20 years. Although data for comparison is not readily available, this seems like a fairly high metropolitan capture rate, given the overall mobility of the U.S. population. Another 20 percent have lived in the KC area between 11 and 20 years. As might be expected, the proportion living the region more than 20 years is highly related to age, with 80 percent of the region's older adults doing so, compared to only half of those 25 to 34 years of age. Blacks are the most likely to have lived in the region more than 20 years and Hispanics and Asians the least, at 70 percent and 41 percent, respectively.
